MARS DIRTcar SeriesMuskogee, OK (September 23, 2011) – Will Vaught of Crane, MO picked up his first MARS win of the 2011 season at night #1 of the Topless Thunderfest at the historic Thunderbird Speedway. Vaught led every lap of the fifteen lap feature that was slowed by two cautions. The feature was originally scheduled for 20 laps, however a multi-car crash on lap 10 forced race officials to reduce the amount of feature laps due to only eight cars being able to continue on, and a rougher than normal race track from heavy soaking rains during the week. Vaught earned $2,500 for the win, his first with the MARS series since August 29, 2009.

Current MARS point leader Brad Looney of Republic, MO finished second and was able to increase his point lead over third place finisher Jesse Stovall of Galena, MO. Justin Asplin of Birch Tree, MO and R.C. Whitwell of Tucson, AZ rounded out the top five.

The MARS Series will return to action Saturday September 24th at the Thunderbird Speedway for the second and final night of the Topless Thunderfest Late Model Shootout.

The MARS DIRTcar Series would like to thank their sponsors for the 2011 season.
