(June 3, 2012) La Monte, MO –  Saturday night, at LA Raceway in La Monte, Missouri a new winner emerged for the first time in three races. Billy Moyer Jr. wired the field to score his third career victory with the Lucas Oil MLRA. He and second running John Anderson hit lapped traffic early in the feature, the #5 of Tommy Cordray got loose in turn four, causing a chain reaction of slowdowns. Moyer Jr., was the first to check up. Anderson slowed in an attempt to keep from hitting the lapped car of Chris Hawkins. The two made slight contact and Anderson spun. He restarted at the back and came up through the field to record an eighth place finish. “When all that happened I know I got on the brakes hard,” commented Moyer Jr. on his perspective of the incident. “I seen the caution come out. I knew John was right there. You hate to see that. It was probably going to be a good race between me and him.”

Woodward, Oklahoma’s, Tommy Weder Jr. finished in the runner up position and for a moment looked like he might go toe to toe with Moyer Jr. Lapped traffic became a handful and Weder was able to close quickly on Moyer. “I’m just happy to run second,” stated Weder. “We’ve been struggling all year with this car. We do quite a bit of stuff different than Billy and them do. Maybe we’re getting somewhere with it.”

Mark Dotson has been up and down this season as he is piloting a Late Model for the first time ever. Saturday was his best ever finish as he fought off a hard charging Eric Turner for third. “It’s starting to come around a little bit so hopefully we can keep it up,” commented Dotson on his luck so far.

Driving for Pannell Motorsports, Eric Turner wheeled from ninth to fourth and came to life late in the feature. Justin Wells earned the KRC Hard Charger award, passing nine cars to finish fifth in his first ever trip to LA Raceway.

Only the early yellow for Anderson slowed the race. Bill Leighton appeared to be on his way to a third place finish before his engine expired. The four heat races were won by Billy Moyer Jr., John Anderson, Bill Leighton and Mark Dotson. Thirty five cars attended the Lucas Oil MLRA race at LA Raceway. It had been nearly six years since Super Late Models raced at the track.

Friday night, June 1st, the scheduled event at Humboldt Speedway was rained out. It has been reset for Friday, July 27th. Next up will be a pair of shows on Friday, June 15th at Valley Speedway in Grain Valley, MO and Saturday, June 16th at Thunder Hill Speedway in Mayetta, KS.
