Mt. Auburn, Illinois’ driver Jim Moon and Team are having a “dream season”. Only twenty-one weeks into the UMP point’s schedule, Moon has already raced over thirty-five races. Having better luck and less equipment failures has helped Moon’s confidence, which is reflected in his finishes.
Almost every night a top ten car, Moon has opened up a 118-point lead over Gibson City, Illinois driver Kevin Weaver. The points lead is the largest Moon has had over the almost six week span in which he has been leading the points. Over the past twenty plus races, Moon also ran top five against some of the NASCAR guys at Macon.
Not only does the 1 team have the DIRTcar UMP National points but after this past weekend, they also have a slim lead over Michael Kloos at Belle Clair Speedway. Belle Clair has become a favorite track to Jim Moon. Back-to back victories there have put it on Moon’s Friday night schedule thru out the season.
Moon’s first victory of the season came at his Saturday night regular track of Montgomery County. That win was on the 9th of June. Just the week before he had to pull off the track during the feature so he did not tear up equipment due to the track conditions. On most Sundays you can find Team MoonMan at Quincy Raceway, another track where the 1 car has been running top fives on a regular basis.
The question has been asked if Moon plans on running any remaining Hell Tour Races. The answer, “maybe”, for sure the team will be running Wednesday at Belle Clair, other then that, check back on Team MoonMan’s facebook page for schedule updates.
