Eldora Speedway(MUSCATINE, IOWA) Brian Birkhofer bagged his fifth Dirt Late Model victory of the 2012 racing season on Friday night, August 31 at the Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, Ohio! After winning his heat race in preliminary action, Brian rolled off starting tenth on the grid in the unsanctioned main event. The Muscatine, Iowa star methodically worked his way to the front and grabbed the point on lap 32 when leader Steve Casebolt suffered mechanical woes. Brian then led the remainder of the 40-lap distance to pocket the $7,000 top prize over Eddie Carrier, Jr., Jared Landers, Doug Drown, and Nick Bocook!

PRP then greeted the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series on Saturday evening, September 1 for the $10,000 to win ‘Pepsi River Days Rumble.’ Brian ran sixth in his heat race and third in his B-Main prior to retiring early in the 50-lap feature event en route to a twenty-first place performance. The Labor Day holiday weekend then wrapped up on Sunday, September 2 at the I-77 Raceway Park in Ripley, West Virginia with the annual running of the ‘Hillbilly Hundred.’ Brian qualified well, won his heat race, and later wound up fifth in the $25,000 to win A-Main behind only winner Mike Marlar, Don O’Neal, Ray Cook, and Earl Pearson, Jr. A detailed race-by-race recap from each show can be accessed by clicking on www.brianbirkhoferracing.com.

“We had a good holiday weekend racing in Ohio and West Virginia,” commented Birkhofer this week while at fellow driver Bart Hartman’s race shop. “Our car was pretty fast on Friday night at Portsmouth, but we got a little luck with Jackie (Boggs) and (Steve) Casebolt breaking in front of us. There is nothing wrong with getting a little luck to go your way, but we were good enough to put ourselves in position to take advantage of their misfortune. After a so-so night at Portsmouth on Saturday, we had another strong run on Sunday at I-77. I got up to second and just missed on tires. I knew what I should have put on and we may have had a shot to win it if I had the right rubber on, but we still came out of there with a top five.”

The Birkhofer Racing team will now turn their sole focus to the 42nd Annual ‘World 100’ at the famed Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio on September 7-8. Qualifying will take place on Friday night at the “Big E,” while heat races, consolation events, and the 100-lap feature event are all slated for Saturday evening. The victor of this year’s edition of the most prestigious event in our industry will pocket $45,000 for their efforts. Brian will be looking for his second ‘World 100’ title, as he picked up the globe trophy back in 2002.
