southern all star seriesCleveland, Tennessee (03/24/14) – Defending Southern All Star (SAS) Super Late Model Champion, Riley Hickman, continued his great start to the 2014 season on Saturday night by powering his #R1 BIF Motorsports/Hickman Manufacturing Company/CVR/Vic Hill Racing Engine Super Late Model to the $5,000 victory in the tour’s season opener at Boyd’s Speedway (Ringgold, Georgia).

Riley Hickman entered familiar territory on Saturday night by competing in the annual Shamrock 50 at Boyd’s Speedway. The $5,000-to-win, Southern All Star Racing Series sanctioned event drew forty-five entries to the 1/3 mile oval, and Riley started his evening by posting the overall fastest lap during qualifying locking him into the pole position for the 50 lap finale.

When the feature went green, Hickman jumped to the race lead with Ethan Hunter and Jason Welshan in tow. Despite several caution periods and a late race charge from Jason Hiett, Hickman held on for a flag-to-flag victory over Hiett, Welshan, Skip Arp, and Todd Morrow.

“We had a really good year in 2013, but so far 2014 has been that much better,” noted Hickman. “We’ve had a few issues of bad luck, but overall this car is rolling great.” He concluded by saying, “I have to give a great deal of credit to my crew and sponsors for their support.”

Hickman will take the SAS point lead into East Alabama Motor Speedway (Phenix City, Alabama) this Saturday, March 29th. A $4,000-to-win program is slated for the 4/10 mile oval. For more information on the event please visit www.EAMSDirt.com and www.SASDirt.com .
