NDRL - National Dirt Racing LeagueBloomington, Indiana (03/16/14) – Kent Robinson took his #7r JB’s Salvage/Club 29/Jay Dickens Racing Engine Super Late Model into battle over the weekend in a trio of events with the National Dirt Racing League (NDRL) and came away with two top-five-finishes and almost a win to show for his efforts.

Action began with a $10,000-to-win program on Thursday night at Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) as the PENNational 50 was contested. Forty-one entries were on hand Thursday night, and Kent starting his outing with a second place finish in the heat race, sending him to the redraw for the main event. After drawing the seventh starting spot for the feature, Robinson passed three other competitors over the course of the event to register a solid fourth place finish behind race winner Steve Francis, Brian Birkhofer, and Jonathan Davenport.

Action shifted to Virginia Motor Speedway (Jamaica, Virginia) on Saturday night to the King of the Commonwealth that posted a $20,000 top prize. Thirty-six Super Late Model filled the pit area, and after failing to transfer into the main event via heat race and b-main action, Kent used a Series Provisional to gain the 23rd starting spot on the grid for the 60 lap finale. Despite starting deep in the field, Robinson advanced ten spots to a thirteenth place finish at the checkered flag.

The weekend drew to a close on Sunday evening as the tour returned to Winchester Speedway (Winchester, Virginia) for a $10,000-to-win program that had been postponed from Friday night due to inclement weather. Thirty-eight Super Late Models registered for the event as Robinson drew the outside pole position, alongside Hall-of-Famer Scott Bloomquist, for the main event. When the feature went green, K-Rob bolted to the race lead and set the pace out front. However, Bloomquist would take over the top spot on lap 39 of the 50 lap affair and lead the remaining laps for the win. Robinson finished second followed by Jonathan Davenport, Billy Moyer, and John Blankenship.

“It was a great weekend, but it would’ve been even better if I had been able to get the win at Winchester,” said Robinson. “Scott (Bloomquist) was just a little better than us at the end, but it was still a really good run for our team.”

Kent finds himself currently leading the rookie of the year battle with the NDRL and is fourth in the overall standings. Complete results from the event as well as the latest standings are available at www.TheNDRL.com .

This weekend the team will travel south to Magnolia Motor Speedway (Columbus, Mississippi) to compete in the inaugural King of Mississippi. The state-of-the-art, 3/8 mile oval will see an open practice session scheduled on Thursday night. Friday night’s program will be highlighted by a $7,500-to-win feature, and on Saturday evening a $12,500-to-win event will be held. For more information on the event please visit www.TheNDRL.com .
