war sprintsQuincy, IL(May 25, 2014)-  On a night that will go down as one of the most memorable in the history of the WAR Series presented by Impact Signs, Awnings, and Wraps,  Mitch Wissmiller picked up the win on Sunday night at Quincy Raceways.

Chris Parkinson led the 16 car field to the green flag as he was followed by Josh Stephens.   With Parkinson out front, the battle early was between Stephens and Chad Goff for the second spot.  It would stay this way until lap eight when Wissmiller started moving forward quickly.   By lap nine, he was up to second when the first yellow would come out for a Brian Armitage spin in turn four.
On the restart, Wissmiller powered by on the high side as Parkinson continued to run second.  By this point, though, all eyes were on Korey Weyant.  Weyant, who earlier had run strong run with MOWA,   started at the tail and had worked his way up to fourth by lap ten.

A lap later, Weyant had disposed of Stephens for third.  Weyant steadily worked his way up to Parkinson and Wissmiller.   On lap thirteen, he powered past Parkinson into the second spot.
On the next lap, Stephens, who was running in the top five, would see his series points lead take a huge hit as he pulled into the infield ending his evening.

The final yellow of the night would come out on lap sixteen for an Armitage spin in turn four.

Once the race went green again, Wissmiller and Weyant had a great battle for the top spot and as the pair battled, Parkinson used the bottom groove to make it a three way battle for the lead.

With all three cars in short racing quarters, lap twenty three saw them cross the flag stand in a near dead heat. The trio made contact and it looked like disaster would happen.  All three drivers did a masterful job of keeping their cars straight and Wissmiller would go on to his first WAR series win in his Maxim.  Weyant was a strong second in his KWeyant Custom Paint Eagle with Automotive Machine power.  Parkinson finished just behind Weyant in his 54th Street Grill and Bar DRC with Parkinson power.  Goff was fourth in his B&D Racing DRC with Kercher-Mopar power.   Bob Thoman was fifth in his Cars Credit Plus DRC.  Pete Palazzolo was sixth with JD Black seventh.  Robert Black, Tommy Rockwell, and Wade Seiler rounded out the top ten.

Fast qualifier Devon Huff took a nasty series of tumbles in his heat as he got up and over another competitor.  He was not injured.

The WAR Series will next be in action on Saturday June 7 at the Springfield Raceway in Springfield, MO.
