January 14, 2015, Tucson, Ariz. Reigning and defending 2014 USMTS National Champion Rodney Sanders is no stranger to victory lane at the Wild West Shootout. Having visited five times previously in open-wheel competition, the Happy, TX racer has turned his sights to Super Late Model racing in 2015 and is off to a stellar start. The fifth starting Sanders used is Swan Energy, Kimrad Transport, Club 29 to track down race leader Don Shaw and hold off a charging Darrell Lanigan to notch is first ever Keyser Manufacturing Wild West Shootout Late Model win.

Just like Sunday evening, Shaw would pace the opening laps of the event, building a comfortable margin before reaching the back of the field near the 1/3rd mark. That allowed Sanders, who had made is way to second by slipping past RC Whitwell, Lanigan, and Tony Toste to close.

Sanders made the inside move as the two front-runners crossed under the flagstand side by side and cleared Shaw as they raced off of turn two. Sanders then began negotiating traffic on a tricky cushion that would throw is closest pursuers fits in the closing stages.

Opening night winner and current late model points leader Lanigan would mount several challenges during the final half of the event, but each time is charge was negated when his Childress Racing Black Diamond would jump that tricky cushion causing the three time World of Outlaws Champion to lose momentum and nearly fall into the clutches of Jason Papich.

Papich, another Club 29 pilot, used a smooth and steady low-line drive in making his way to third and continued his impressive week long run which has gained the attention of many observers. Shaw would ultimately settle for a bitter-sweet fourth place finish, the second straight night he has started from the pole only to move backwards, with Tony Toste rounding out the top five.

Jimmy Mars, after a two-day thrash to repair his damaged MB Customs mount, turned in a solid sixth place after starting twelfth, but the hard-charger of the night honors once again went Jimmy Owens. The newest member of Rowland Racing maneuvered his Widow Wax, Pro Power, Club 29 from eighteenth to seventh after a stirring seventeenth to fourth blast on Sunday .
