Lucas Oil Late Model SeriesHARRISBURG, IL (May 10) – The Riggs Motorsports team was busy on May 4-5 in weekend events at the Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Illinois and the Paducah International Raceway in Paducah, Kentucky. Kevin Cole entered $10,000 to win Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series battles at both venues. On Friday night at Granite City, Kevin finished fifth in his loaded heat race and later grabbed the third and final transfer spot through his B-Main. After starting from the outside of the eleventh row in the 50-lap feature event, Kevin was among the first retirees and wound up twenty-fourth in the final rundown. At Paducah on Saturday evening, the Christopher, Illinois native was unable to transfer into the $10,000 to win A-Main after running eighth in his heat race and sixth in his B-Main.

With the high threat of rain at Granite City on Friday, Jason Riggs and Scott James both opted to head to Paducah on Friday for a $1,250 to win weekly UMP show. Jason ran second in his heat race and led the main event early until his hard tire selection caused him to fade to a sixth place performance. Scott was stalled by crank trigger issues during his heat race, but later charged past fourteen cars in the A-Main en route to a stellar runner-up effort behind only winner Vic Hill.

In Lucas Oil Series action on Saturday at PIR, Jason received a track provisional to gain access into the main event and wound up seventeenth in the final finishing order of the 50-lapper. Scott went for an unfortunate spin in his heat race and could only get up to the fifth spot in his B-Main, which was a couple of positions shy of transferring.

It will be a lighter weekend for the #81 teams on May 11-12, as Jason Riggs will take the weekend off altogether. Kevin Cole plans to invade the Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Illinois once again on Friday night for a $1,200 to win weekly tilt. On Saturday, Scott James will travel to the Florence Speedway in Union, Kentucky to vie for a $2,000 top prize.
