(MENOMONIE, WISCONSIN) The Mars Racing team trekked south to the Batesville Motor Speedway in Locust Grove, Arkansas on May 18-19 for the inaugural running of the ‘Bad Boy 98.’ The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series sanctioned the unique event, which provided the winner with $10,000 and a new 2012 Chevy Camaro. Jimmy Mars ran sixth in his loaded heat race on Friday night, but later captured the second transfer spot through his B-Main on Saturday.
After rolling off from the inside of the tenth row in the ‘Bad Boy 98,’ Jimmy unfortunately suffered a flat right rear tire on lap 13. The Menomonie, Wisconsin ace returned to the racetrack with new rubber and proceeded to claw his way up inside of the top ten. Jimmy eventually landed in sixth at the conclusion of the 98-lapper to finish behind only winner Jimmy Owens, Billy Moyer, Scott Bloomquist, Wendell Wallace, and Don O’Neal. Another Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series mega-event awaits the Mars Racing team on May 25-26 in the Show-Me State of Missouri. The 20th Annual ‘DART Show-Me 100’ presented by ProtectTheHarvest.com will take place on Friday and Saturday at the immaculate Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri. The 100-lapper on Saturday night, which will be taped for broadcast on CBS, CBS Sports, SPEED, and MAVTV Networks in 2012, will pay $30,000 to the winner. Jimmy has a pair of runner-up efforts to his credit in past ‘Show-Me 100’ appearances, as he finished second back in 2008 behind Scott Bloomquist and second in 2009 behind Brian Birkhofer.
Following the ‘Show-Me 100,’ the #28 team is scheduled to make the overnight jaunt to the Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Illinois for the annual running of the ‘Budweiser 50.’ The one-day UMP program at the St. Louis area venue on Sunday, May 27 boasts a $10,000 paycheck.
