World of Outlaws Late Model Series(YORK, PENNSYLVANIA) Rick Eckert Racing made a rare visit to the venerable Florence Speedway in Union, Kentucky on August 10-11 for the 30th edition of the ‘North/South 100.’ The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series presided over the crown jewel event, which boasted a hefty $50,000 top prize. In addition, Rick Eckert’s late car owner Raye Vest was also inducted into the National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame during the weekend at Florence and Rick delivered some touching words during the ceremony on the front stretch on Saturday afternoon.

On the racing side of things, Rick posted the fifth fastest lap in Group A during the qualifying session on Friday night and later won his heat race on Saturday. After rolling off from the inside of the second row in the 100-lap ‘North/South 100,’ “Scrub” was a fixture inside of the top five throughout the storied race. When the checkered flag fell over the stout field, Rick was credited with a fourth place performance, as he trailed only winner Don O’Neal, Jimmy Owens, and Steve Casebolt. Complete results from the ‘North/South 100’ weekend can be accessed online at www.lucasdirt.com.

Up next for the #24 team will be a return to the World of Outlaws Late Model Series circuit on August 17-18 in the state of Michigan. The Winston Speedway in Rothbury, Michigan will play host to a $10,000 to win showdown on Friday night, while the Merritt Raceway in Lake City, Michigan will do the same on Saturday evening. Rick comes into the doubleheader weekend second in the latest version of the WOOLMS point standings. Additional information can be obtained by clicking on www.worldofoutlaws.com.
