(November 13, 2012) Buckner, MO – The wraps will officially be placed on the 2012 season for the Lucas Oil MLRA this Friday night at the annual Awards Banquet. For the third straight year, it will take place at Harrah’s Casino in Kansas City, MO. The evening will be a chance to gather and celebrate the championship of John Anderson, as well as the accomplishments of Mark Dotson, 2012 Rookie of the Year. It will also be a special time, as we thank and honor, Harriett and Cowboy Chancellor, for their sixteen years of dedication and hard work to make the Lucas Oil MLRA a success.

Drivers, owners, crews, sponsors, families and fans are encouraged to attend. The doors open at 6:00 PM, with dinner at 7:30 PM, and the awards presentation to follow. Tickets are $30 in advance or $35 at the door. Contact Harriett Chancellor at 816-650-5063 or 816-305-6572 to reserve your seat.

John Anderson secured his third overall title, with the Lucas Oil MLRA, by scoring five wins, along with an average finish of 4.8 for the season. Heading into the final weekend of competition, his average finish was an astounding 2.9. To go along with the wins, there were six additional times he either finished second or third. Anderson drives for Greg and Pat Junghans, who reside in Manhattan, KS. Junghans owns a stable of MasterSbilt Race Cars powered by Jay Dickens Engines. Anderson currently sits fifth on the all-time Lucas Oil MLRA wins list with twenty-nine checkered flags.

It was a season of learning for Mark Dotson behind the wheel of his Barry Wright Race Car. He has raced for several years, but prior to beginning the season, Dotson had never even tested a Dirt Late Model. It was a trial by fire, and he more than held his own. Dotson raced in the feature event in all but two shows this season. Topping his finish list was a third place effort at LA Raceway in La Monte, MO in early June. There were seven top ten runs along the way for “Fluffy.” In addition to the Rookie of the Year crown, Dotson was third in series points.
