(BATESVILLE, ARKANSAS) Billy Moyer Racing (BMR) trekked to Ark-La-Tex Speedway in Vivian, Louisiana on Friday, March 14 for the annual running of the ‘Pelican 100.’ The unsanctioned two-day affair, which was scheduled to pay $10,000 to the winner, was condensed into a single day program on Friday due to impending inclement weather in the area. Billy Moyer laid down the fastest lap of the 51 competitors during qualifying to earn Fast Time honors and later scored the win in heat race action.

When the 50-lap feature event rolled onto the speedway, Billy led the talented field to green from the pole position. “Mr. Smooth” then led most of the first nineteen circuits and had his sights set on the adjusted $5,000 top prize. However, Timothy Culp had other plans and passed Moyer’s famed #21 machine for the point for good on lap 20. Billy then ran in the second position throughout the remainder of the distance to record a strong runner-up performance. Full results from the weather-shortened ‘Pelican 100′ weekend can be found online at www.arklatexspeedway.net.

The #21 BMR team is scheduled to enjoy a rare weekend off from Dirt Late Model competition on March 21-22, but will return to action the following weekend. Billy’s next scheduled battle will be a World of Outlaws Late Model Series showdown on Saturday, March 29 at I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Arkansas. The single day event in his home state will pay $10,000 to the victor. Billy finished fifth in last year’s WOOLMS stop at I-30 Speedway.
