MARS DIRTcar Series(MENOMONIE, WISCONSIN) Jimmy Mars and his #28 team made the trek to the Hawkeye State of Iowa on April 18-19 to compete in a pair of Corn Belt Clash and MARS DIRTcar Series battles. On Friday night, the Davenport Speedway in Davenport, Iowa played host to a $3,500 to win program. Jimmy won his heat race and the dash in preliminary action, which locked him into the pole position for the A-Main. After running at the front of the field in the early stages of the race, the Menomonie, Wisconsin star ultimately wound up third in the final rundown behind only victor Jason Feger and runner-up Brian Birkhofer.

The action quickly turned to 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa on Saturday evening for the annual running of the ‘Slocum 50.’ A huge 46 car field was on hand and all eyes were fixated on the $10,555 top prize. Jimmy ran second in heat race action and later rolled off from the inside of the fourth row in the 50-lap feature event. The popular driver known as the “Iceman” was then able to move past a couple of competitors during the race en route to a strong fifth place performance behind only winner Bobby Pierce, Jason Feger, Brandon Sheppard, and Brian Birkhofer. Complete results from the doubleheader weekend can be viewed online at www.marsracingseries.com.

Jimmy and his Mars Racing team have plans away from the racetrack on April 25-26, but are scheduled to return to dirt-slinging competition on May 2-3 in a pair of $10,000 to win Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series tilts. On that Friday, the Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Illinois will greet the national touring series, while Paducah International Raceway in Paducah, Kentucky will wrap up the weekend on Saturday. Both nights will feature complete shows that will be headlined by a 50-lap main event. Additional information concerning these races can be found by clicking www.lucasdirt.com.
