(CARPENTERSVILLE, ILLINOIS) Dennis Erb, Jr. and his #28 team followed the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series trail to the Batesville Motor Speedway in Locust Grove, Arkansas on August 16-18 for 21st Annual ‘Topless 100.’ The prestigious roofless event once again paid $40,000 to the winner. On Friday night, Dennis clicked off the tenth fastest lap in Group B during the qualifying session and later grabbed the third and final transfer spot through his heat race behind only prelim victor Dale McDowell and runner-up Billy Moyer.
Following a rain-out on Saturday evening, Dennis started the 100-lap crown jewel main event on Sunday afternoon from the outside of the seventh row. Dennis was trying to make headway in the ‘Topless 100′ before suffering a flat tire on lap 47. After returning to the speedplant at the tail end of the stellar field, the Carpentersville, Illinois ace was then able to salvage a fourteenth place effort in the extra-distance affair. Two more Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series programs will headline a busy tripleheader weekend for the Dennis Erb Racing team on August 22-24. A pair of $10,000 top prizes will be on the line with the national touring series on Thursday at the Volunteer Speedway in Bulls Gap, Tennessee and on Saturday at the Lawrenceburg Speedway in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. Dennis will also take the opportunity to compete on Friday evening in the unsanctioned ‘Friday Night Rumble,’ which boasts a $7,500 winner’s check, at the Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City, Kentucky.
