CALVERT CITY, Ky. – The National Dirt Racing League’s Bluegrass Nationals race at Kentucky Lake Motor Speedway, announced March 12 as postponed, has been canceled.
The NDRL posted on its website today that the event had been canceled.
“It is extremely unfortunate that we won’t be able to have the Bluegrass Nationals,” NDRL series director Kelley Carlton said. He said the series is off to a strong start in early events this year.
“We are very limited on available dates so to lose a good one is tough,” Carlton said. “And at this point it would really hard to reschedule at a different venue and be able to do a good job of promoting to have a successful event.”
The race was scheduled for March 27-29.
KLMS management agreed with the decision, citing the extreme weather conditions that have prevented restoration of the 3/8-mile track, which has been inactive for three years.
Speedway management hopes to begin racing as soon as possible, but only after conditions allow proper preparation of the track.
