Lucas Oil Speedway(July 28, 2011) Buckner, MO –
On the heels of the largest race in the history of the Lucas Oil MLRA, the series will be back in action this Saturday night at Lucas Oil Speedway. This will be the 14th standalone race held at the Speedway since 2006. The past winners list is diverse with Terry Phillips and Jeremy Payne each winning on three separate occasions. No other driver has one more than one race. Mount Vernon, Iowa’s Chad Simpson won the most recent stop back in April. Other past winners include, Justin Wells, Jack Sullivan, Denny Woodworth, Mark Burgtorf, Al Purkey and Dave Eckrich. Some of those winners have other commitments this weekend, but others are expected to attend.

Lucas Oil MLRA action will only be a portion of the action held this weekend in Wheatland, MO. Friday – Sunday will also see the running of the Inaugural Diamond Drag Boat Nationals, sanctioned by the Lucas Oil Drag Boat Racing Series. Friday will feature a test and tune. Saturday the boats will qualify and eliminations are Sunday.

Saturday, during intermission, Bigfoot, with driver Dan Runte will have a car crushing exhibition. Also, Mike Wiskus will have Lucas Oil Air Show performances on both Saturday and Sunday.

Al Purkey comes into the event with the series points lead. He took his second provisional of the season at the Silver Dollar Nationals, after engine trouble on qualifying night placed him the back of a B Main. He raced from 27th to 12th in the feature. John Anderson took advantage of Kyle Berck’s broken Rocker Arm on his engine to jump up to the second position in points. Anderson finished 15th and is still looking for his first MLRA win at the Diamond of Dirt Tracks.
