Defying the odds, the Crawdad’s Classics Gourmet Hot Sauce ULMA turns five years old in 2011 and is looking forward to a great year of fierce competition from the talented group of drivers who will vie for the coveted title and guaranteed end-of-year point fund.  Driver membership fees have remained the same for the last five years at just $50.  With strong support from Crawdad’s Classics Gourmet Hot Sauce, drivers have a guaranteed point fund to look forward to at the end of the year for the first time in association history.  ULMA is continually striving to bring a larger pool of drivers to affiliated tracks and growing a loyal fan base.

There is an amazing 85 possible points-earning nights scheduled among the five affiliated tracks for 2011.  Callaway Raceway in Fulton, MO is scheduled to host 23 races as is Scotland County Speedway in Memphis, MO.  Central Missouri Speedway (CMS) in Warrensburg, MO has 21 events scheduled, with Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, MO set to host 15 events, and newly re-opened 24 Raceway in Moberly, MO coming into the fray with 3 scheduled races.  The championship season officially gets underway on Friday, April 8 at Callaway Raceway and concludes 5 months later on the second weekend in September.  Drivers will keep their 15 best accumulated finishes from the season to count toward the title of ULMA Champion.

Several opportunities to test and tune cars will take place before regular season competition gets underway.  The first of these events takes place next weekend at three locations including Callaway Raceway on Saturday, April 2 from 2 to 5 p.m. with gates opening at noon, visit the track’s official web site at www.callawayraceways.com for complete details.  Scotland County Speedway will also hold its practice session on Saturday, April 2 with gates opening at 11 a.m. with practice from 1 to 4 p.m.  All classes are welcome to the session, visit www.scotlandcountyspeedway.com for more information.  There will also be a car show on the same Saturday at Scotland County on the grounds behind the grandstands from 9 a.m. to noon.  Lucas Oil Speedway’s Test and Tune session takes place on April 2 from noon to dusk, for complete info visit the track’s website at www.lucasoilspeedway.com.  Central Missouri Speedway’s lone practice session falls on Saturday, April 9 during the evening with gates opening at 4 p.m.  The practice session follows the annual CMS car show, from 10 a.m. to noon at the American Legion Post 131 in Warrensburg.  Visit the speedway’s website at www.centralmissourispeedway.net for complete details.

Besides the exciting news of Crawdad’s Classics Gourmet Hot Sauce becoming ULMA’s title sponsor, there are also new contingency sponsors to announce for ULMA.  The first of which is SafeRacer.com, which will supply contingency certificates to top ULMA performers and offering drivers a 10 percent discount through the SafeRacer.com website.  Board member Danny Lorton has started a new business venture for 2011, D&L Motorsports, which will put 10% of product sales that ULMA and drivers make thru D&L into the point fund.  Contact Lorton at dlorton@ulmaracing.com for complete product information.

ULMA engine rules have expanded for 2011.  Drivers, car owners, and engine and car builders are highly encouraged to visit the rules page on the official ULMA website at www.ulmaracing.com.  To join the association’s email group, send request to unitedlatemodelassociation@hotmail.com.  ULMA thanks all 2011 business partners for their involvement.  This year’s team consists of title sponsor Crawdad’s Classics Gourmet Hot Sauce, TCI® Automotive, Fast Shafts, Rod End Supply, SafeRacer.com, Kenny’s Tile, Racingjunk.com, Imhoff Construction, Kenny Johnson’s Race Replicas, D&L Motorsports, and InsuranceSpecialists.com.  ULMA is a proud supporter of Homes for Our Troops.  To join the team, contact us at unitedlatemodelassociation@hotmail.com.
